My exuberant and unusual paintings embody the joy I feel for the English landscape. I focus on the contrast and dynamic interplay between the natural and built environment, creating paintings that are brim-full of light, energy, colour and texture. Whether depicting a country church or a bustling market town, my goal is to create pieces that communicate a deep appreciation for our environment and to inspire viewers to look more closely at familiar places - noticing the previously unnoticed. My ultimate goal though is for my paintings to make their viewers smile.
Sketchbooks, preparatory drawings, paintings, print and cards can be seen in my purpose-built studio, set in lovely gardens.

“Frank surprised me at Christmas with a wonderful painting super-talented Mikki did of West Street in Oundle, which includes Victoria hall, where I saw amateur pantos as a child and decided to be an actor, and the music shop. It’s above the bed so I feel at home every night. Thank you also to Mikki for the beautiful picture of Lyveden New Bield that my brother and I got for my mum for her retirement present. If you like art and cheerful colours and a beautiful, affectionate appreciation of local places, check out Mikki’s stuff.”
“I first met Mikki Longley in 2002 and very much admired her colourful fun and quirky work. I asked her to come and do a painting of our house, The Old Dairy. We loved the painting and still do. After we moved to Windsor Castle, I asked her to do a painting of our house in the Castle. The painting of Norman Tower draws enormous comment from all who see it. It is so special and captures the essence of the house and its context in Windsor Castle. Both my wife and I are thrilled with the painting and commend Mikki and her amazing talent to all.”
“Mikki is a fantastic artist, she captures the real spirit of the places she paints, one of which happens to be where my wife is from, which is handy! Her work adorns our walls and brightens my days.”
“Our first two prints from Mikki were purchased in 2006. Both still hang, pride of place in the entrance hall of our home in Kettering and are fantastic conversational pieces; friends and visitors comment upon Mikki’s unique, bendy style. They have become an integral part of our home. We wanted a signature piece of artwork as you walk into our Nottingham apartment, and we immediately thought of Mikki. She has delivered an absolutely unique piece of artwork, featuring our home and the adjacent castle and castle rock, in her own unique style, and it is absolutely stunning. And, yet again, an instant conversational piece. Thank you Mikki, it is excellent.”
